As my family and I have been busy exploring the new area to which we have moved, doing so has been much easier due to the GPS available on my daughter's phone. No matter where we are going, all she has to do is to enter the address of our destination and she receives step-by-step directions as we travel, to lead us right to where we want to go.
GPS is short for Global Positioning System, which is a navigation system based on satellites installed in orbit around the earth. It's quite an amazing piece of technology that has made the world a much easier place to navigate, especially for those of us, like me, who seem to be directionally challenged, always going the wrong way and getting lost.
Finding our way to physical landmarks, however, is only one of the things that we have to cope with in this life. Finding our way morally, ethically, and mentally is also required to navigate this life successfully. Fortunately for us, there is another GPS to enable us to achieve such success: God's Piloting System, which is a Holy Spirit-based operation, installed on earth by God after the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His ascension into heaven. It is a GPS that is installed into the innermost being of those who commit their way to Christ as Lord and Saviour. It is also a system that is able to work in the lives of those in the rest of the world. Of the Holy Spirit, Jesus told His disciples:
John 16:8-11 – When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. (NIV)
The Holy Spirit has been given to guide and direct us in the best way to navigate this life, as well as in our relationship with God through Christ. Jesus told His disciples that "when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth," for He speaks only what He hears from God. (John 16:13 NIV) When we are open to listening for and to His voice, God truly leads, directs, and changes us more and more into the likeness of Jesus Christ, Who navigated His earthly life with perfection.
Today, each of us, God willing, will have to navigate our way through another 24 hours. How shall we achieve this: through our own wisdom, or by tuning into God's Piloting System? It's a GPS designed to get us through this day in the most positive and productive way possible: His way.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Holy Spirit and His ability to guide us each and every day into all truth and wisdom. Open our hearts and ears to hear and receive His direction. In Christ's name, we ask. Amen.

I like your GPS for spiritual faith. It is a neat way of looking at it. I rely on it often, but never thought of it as a GPS. Great devotional.
Wishing you never to get lost again since you have your GPS in two ways.
Again you have written a wonderful devotion. You bring truth and make us love the Holy Spirit even more because of the truth he puts on our hearts as we, as you say, navigate through this life. Keep writing to give the Light to someone who might struggle in the dark today.

Good to read another one of your devotionals this morning. I really appreciate your good words about the GPS. I have used the GPS a few times in a children’s story. I took it and a Bible. I call it God’s positioning System, it always sends us in the right direction.

What a great comparison you have written of the guidance we receive from the Holy Spirit and the way new technology is available with GPS to guide us in our vehicle travels. We sure need be grateful for our Lord Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to keep us on the right track through our daily activities. Thank you, Lynne, for sharing this encouraging devotional with us. My mother was also directionally challenged. Dear soul that she was, she used to joke that she could get lost in our postage stamp back yard. She had a marvelous, God given, sense of humor which, with a lot of prayer for direction, saw her through many challenges. God love her, she’d get so flustered, but she always relied upon prayer and God always saw her through. Blessings.
