1 Peter 1:4 – To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. (KJV)

Each time we remembered one particular fellow whose inheritance of landed properties was unjustly taken away, the pains came like birth pangs. But his family chose the path of peace, allowed the sleeping dog to lie, and took solace in the salvation of their souls, which is worth more than a billion dollars! Thank God for this fellow whom God later blessed: he was able to reserve an inheritance for his children, and he became a preacher of peace above all other considerations. I call him a man of peace.

Our lives are projects in the hands of God, who has commissioned us to be His ministers. At sundry times, He delivers us from the hands of wicked and unreasonable people, allowing us to turn many from the power of Satan — the prince of this world — unto God. This way, people can be saved and have access to the divine inheritance that Christ has prepared for us: eternal life in heaven, a place where there will be no more sorrow!

God Almighty is a compassionate God who loves every one of us, and He has decided to reserve an inheritance in the heavenlies for all believers in Christ. He wants us to come closer to Him and reach out to those who are far away, so that they can become partakers of this godly inheritance that does not perish nor fade away. We must hold on to Christ until the very end. Without Him, life on earth is meaningless, but with Him, we have a better home in the heavenlies. God Almighty will preserve our inheritance for us, and our labour in His vineyard will never be in vain. He truly cares, and He is a loving Father indeed, who knows the best for all believers.

Here is an anchor Scripture that we can hold onto and apply daily in receiving the divine inheritance of which we have been assured:

Colossians 3:24 – Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. (KJV)

When we work for Christ and have a close walk with Him, He will not let us down, and our divine inheritance will be guaranteed through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, let not the divine inheritance that You have reserved for us be taken away by negligence. Help us to stay pure in all things, and give us Your divine grace to reach out to the unsaved. Amen.

Psalm 9:18 – For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. (KJV)

Schooling with inadequate funds comes with its own peculiar challenges. Years ago, I was a poor student on campus, and life was not friendly with me then. My pocket money for the month was less than fifty dollars. Out of this little amount, I would pay my tithe as a student. During vacation, I had to engage in odd jobs for extra finances. As a result of my faithfulness in tithing to God, He saw me through my academics with good results and without experiencing carry over. Each time people gave me money, I valued it, and I do not forget what they have done for me.

The Word of God records that we have to show affection to the poor who are always in need and who dwell in our midst.

Proverbs 19:17 – He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. (KJV)

Proverbs 22:9 – He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor. (KJV)

Anyone who gives to the poor will never go unrewarded. Helping the poor is a worthy cause, and it comes with blessings from above. It is a sacrifice that God is well pleased with at all times, and it is a project that can save a soul.

God Almighty is a compassionate God who loves the needy always and has positioned different helpers to attend to them. Any fellow who laughs at the needy laughs at God. God does not want us to close our ears to the cries of the needy. He wants us to help them by seeing them as vulnerable. God cares for everyone, and He does not discriminate. He wants us to do the same.

Have we been turning down the request of the needy and seeing them as a burden to us? Let us repent today and make our Creator happy by assisting them. The cry of the needy ascends to God faster than the cry of the comfortable. Here is a Scripture that we can hold on to and apply on a daily basis:

Psalm 41:1 – Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. (KJV)

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, give us the grace to consider the needy and to see them as dearly beloved at all times. Amen.

2 Chronicles 20:15-17 – And [Jehaziel] said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. (KJV)

April 13th, 2014, was a Sunday, and the spirit of the Lord led me into worship when I was alone in my little apartment. During this time out with the Almighty Creator, I was not aware that He was preparing to save me from a bomb blast scheduled for the following day. April 14th, 2014, was a black Monday at Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. That morning, I woke up, did all my necessary obligations, and was set for work. I found myself patrolling my street from one end to the other in search of a vehicle that would take me to the office. This exercise continued for a while, and little did I know that God was delaying me to save my soul from destruction. Eventually, I was able to get a car. As we were approaching Nyanya Market, the bomb blast erupted, and many people lost their lives. If I had left my house earlier, I would have been a victim of that circumstance. I worshipped God, and He gave me victory over the bomb blast. Prayer strengthens the spirit, but praises send an invitation to God which He honours.

Today's Bible passage was a case of a victory without a fight. King Jehoshaphat appointed people to sing and to praise Almighty God, who instigated their enemies against themselves. They destroyed one another while the children of Israel watched in victory. Through praises, the wealth of the enemies was transferred to the children of Israel. The plunder took three days to collect. Praises and worship are silver bullets to victory.

Psalm 22:3 – But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. (KJV)

God is enthroned in our praises, and He wants all humankind to praise Him always at all times. This is what He enjoys, and He wants us always to give Him quality praises.

Have we been battling with any serious challenge that has refused to cease? Then, let us begin to praise God in advance for giving us victory over such a stubborn situation. Let us see if God will act speedily on our behalf today. Here is a comforting Scripture that we can always hold onto for triumph:

Jeremiah 20:13 – Sing unto the Lord, praise ye the Lord: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers. (KJV)

When we praise, God plays the warrior.

Prayer: Dear God, we thank You for all the victories that You have given to us. Grant us Your Holy Spirit divine to enable us to praise You at all times and to become hooked on Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hebrews 11:16 – But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. (KJV)

My first visit to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, was quite amazing to me, considering the level of development, with a good road network, street lighting, and a very clean environment. To me, it was just like a mini-London. The trees were well arranged, and it is a place where nature can nurture a fellow for the future. I saw cars there that I have never seen before in my entire life. Before moving to the slum area, I was privileged to put up in one of the highbrow areas, Gwarimpa, the largest estate in Africa. The slum was characterized by crime and criminality, but I was not bothered, since I needed a place to start off life from. Although I witnessed violence and even a bomb blast in the slum area, I experienced a relative peace because God was with me.

No matter how beautiful a city may be, it is still not free from crime. But the heavenly city is the safest. It is the divine country home of the Almighty God. This is what the Scripture tells us about it:

Matthew 6:20 – But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. (KJV)

This means that we who are believers in Christ are to focus our desires on heaven, which is a better option compared to where we are now. It is a place of rest for all believers in Jesus. He told us that in His father's house there are many mansions and that He has gone to prepare a place for us (John 14:2). This is a sure promise for all believers. Heaven is a better country and a true city of safety, peace, rest, and comfort.

The greatest architect of all ages is God Almighty. He is a master planner and builder, and our chief security officer. He wants us to have at the back of our mind that life is short, death is certain, and eternity is forever. After our sojourn here on earth, He wants us to be with Him in heaven and to rest from all our labours. Heaven is the safest place.

Do we desire this better country as well? This is a Scripture we can apply:

John 3:3 – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (KJV)

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, grant us the grace to live in obedience to You so that we can look forward to being in heaven with You. Amen.

Luke 18:35-38 – Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he cried out, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" (NKJV)

Brother Charles has been a very good Christian friend to me, and his faith challenged me to become a believer. One day, he gave me information that a certain pastor would be visiting the Christian Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, for ministry. For me, it was information not to delay over. That momentous day, we prepared and went for the programme. It was there that the man of God gave a message through which the Lord changed my life for good. I was liberated from my guilt and deceit, and today, I am a happy fellow to whom God decided to show mercy. If it were not for that information, I would still be held bound by Satan.

The case of the blind man in today's Scripture illustrates the value of good information. The blind man was given accurate information about Jesus Christ who was passing by, and the blind man used that information to cry out to Jesus for mercy. The more that he was rebuked, the more that he cried out. Jesus heard him, and that was how he received his healing. All the people praised God. The blind man made good use of the information, and he was delivered. When we pray that the right people will give us good information that will bring about our breakthrough, victory, and healing, God Almighty will bring them across our way in Jesus' name.

God is the custodian of all vital spiritual information, and always He wants us to inquire of Him, just as David did before he attacked the Amalekites. When we receive spiritual information from God and act on it, it will lead to our breakthrough and liberation from every satanic shackle. God always wants us to ask Him for sensitive information, and He is willing to release it to us so that our souls can be liberated for good.

Do we know that any information that we desire, whether for healing or breakthrough, God can grant to us through Jesus Christ our Lord? We have to be genuinely born again first, and then we can get vital information from God through fasting and prayer. Here is a supporting Scripture that we can apply on a daily basis as well:

Jeremiah 33:3 – Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (NKJV)

God is the only true source of spiritual information. A genuine source of information is a sure gateway for liberation.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, through Your Holy Spirit, grant us and our family members Your spiritual information that will help us to change our stories and bring our lives into order. Amen.
