Matthew 7:18-20 – A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. (NIV 2011)

As I drove along the road, there was a very large truck in front of me. As the truck moved along, I noticed that as it went by, grass and branches danced and swayed, dirt made little whirlwinds, and sometimes, garbage flew around. This made me think that, as the truck went merrily on its way, in its wake, it affected many different things and left everything different: a joyful dance of grass and branches; the dirt swirling round and round; the garbage that rose upwards and took flight. Sometimes, it seemed as if nothing were happening, yet I knew that even though I could not see it, the truck's passing changed everything in its wake.

I began to ponder my own journey: as I blithely go about my day, what do I leave in my wake? Do I show God's love and the joy of loving the Lord? Or do I stir up dirt and garbage? Even when I don't see or hear any noticeable difference, my actions and my words have had an effect on everyone around me.

The Lord calls us to show His love, His grace, and His mercy.

What am I leaving in my wake?

1 John 3:18 – Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. (NIV 2011)

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your guidance every day. Please help us to realize that all we do is a reflection of You. Help us to show Your love and grace in everything we do. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
