Early in 2009, an e-mail friend asked me this question: "If you had a loudspeaker, what would you say into it to the Christian and secular world?" My response was that with my Bible in my right hand and the loudspeaker in my left hand, I would say to the world, "Jesus loves you! Come and see!"
I've worked and lived with that mission statement in my mind, heart, and whole being. It has been my focus, my mainstay in all my living. It is my major mission. I'm hearing repeatedly His soft voice saying, "Carry on, Rosemary. I'll tell you when to stop."
But can we even begin to imagine Jesus' private conversations with God the Father, and His Father's replies?
Luke 3:21-22 – Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. (KJV)
Jesus, having passed through childhood and youth, in this passage stands at thirty years of age, on the verge of His mighty messianic mission: the salvation of the world.
When Jesus was born, the heavenly host chanted the anthems of welcome, not only to Him, but also to the new race, which would come from Him, His work, His mission, ministry, and sacrifice. "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." (Luke 2:14 KJV)
Through the child of Mary, our Lord and Saviour, the Son of God, would spring the race, including us, which shall satisfy and please the heart of God. Our Saviour came into the world in order that all the races that were displeasing to God because of sin, rebellion, and pollution may be made pleasing to Him.
Let us ever keep our Saviour as the beloved of our hearts, and keep our Saviour's mission in our hearts, minds, and whole beings.
Everything that humanity could do to save itself has been done, and still so much of humanity in its own wisdom sits in darkness. The world still needs, and ever will need, our Saviour's love, grace, forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.
We have an opportunity now, and in this coming year, 2010, to be more prepared, active, and vocal, in sharing Him, His works, every aspect, attribute, and truth about our Lord Jesus Christ with the world and those family members and friends not yet saved.
Prayer: Precious Lord, we thank You again for all You have wrought for us in our lives. For many of us, this is the last of life, these our last days. Lord, please bring about a greater keenness and desire in all of us to do and speak whatever is needed into the lives of those in need of the wonderful salvation and abundant life You have graced us with. May our tongues be ready writers, and our lives living epistles for Your glory. Amen and Amen.
