(Lyrics) |
Luke 5:17-19 – One of those days, as [Jesus] was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law sitting by, who had come from every village and town of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was [present] with Him to heal them. And behold, some men were bringing on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed, and they tried to carry him in and lay him before [Jesus]. But finding no way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him with his stretcher through the tiles into the midst, in front of Jesus. (AMP)
Did you ever have one of those days when it would have been better to have stayed in bed? Yes! Me too! In the midst of one of "my" days, I began to think about Mrs. Luke Five. Here she is, minding her own business, and suddenly Jesus is at her door with all the country bigwigs at His heels. It's that day when the kids are sick, the floors aren't swept, and she's down to her last crust.
She is thinking, "What if they stay for lunch? Scrape the budget for a roast? Enough chairs? Does Jesus need a drink of water? Dust? And a spider! The whole roof is caving in! I am going to be known as the dirty housekeeper who killed Jesus!"
But the truth is that no-one remembers any of that. When Jesus comes into our lives, people see only Him. The dust and spiders of our lives become very secondary when His light shines through us — that is, if we have allowed Him to do the only cleaning necessary: our hearts.
Been dusted lately? Light shining through? Ready for "one of those days"?
Prayer: Lord, when we look at our circumstances, instead of at You, clean us up — big time! Amen.
