Psalm 25:4 – Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. (NLT)

"Where in the world are you going?"

"Donna, whoa! Where are we?"

Feeling a little bit lost, and maybe somewhat anxious, I was talking to my sister as I drove my car. The only problem was that she was in the car ahead of me, and she couldn't hear me or feel my anxiety at all the twists and turns that we were taking as we were going home from north Georgia recently.

We stopped once for a meal break. Donna must have noticed the sweat and frantic look on my face, because she reminded me that if we got separated, she would come back for me, and not to worry so much.

I had no choice but to trust her. She had studied the map to figure out the best way to come home so that we wouldn't have to face a lot of traffic congestion.

To add to the story, the car that I was driving was new to me. The route that Donna was taking us on was new to me, as well.

I was a bit nervous about not having anything to do but to trust her and her sense of direction, or rather the Global Positioning System (GPS) on her phone. My device wasn't advanced enough to do all that hers could do. Plus, being that this was a new car to me, I still didn't know how to operate all its bells and whistles.

We had some road closures and had to detour off our original route home. We spent a lot of time off the beaten path, on rocky roads, with some very countryside terrain.

Upon arriving home, she got out of her car and looked at me as I slid out of mine. "I have got to give GPS credit. I just let her lead, and she got us back home."

In the Bible verse for today, the psalmist pleads for God to show him the way to go, and he knows that all that he must do is to trust the Lord to do just that.

There may be hills, twists, road closures, detours, and valleys for us on our journey of life, but we can rely on God's promises:

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (NLT)

All that we must do is to let Him show us the way.

God should always be our spiritual GPS.

Prayer: Dear Lord, show us the right direction to take and lead the way. We trust You. Amen.
