Matthew 11:27-29 – All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (NKJV)

John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (NKJV)

Throughout life, situations often occur when one person makes an offer to another. If we want to make a deal, we usually try to encourage the person with whom we are dealing to accept the offer, because it is necessary for the deal to be accepted in order to be completed. A good deal is one where both parties are pleased, because each one feels that the completed deal results in their being better off following the consummation of the deal. If the offer is accepted, a common expression is "It's a deal!"

In 1963, the dynamics behind these interactions prompted a popular television show called "Let's make a deal" featuring Monty Hall as its host. It has run off and on ever since. A twist in the television show is that the trader does not know whether the item being traded is of value or not. If not, it is called a "Zonk".

You and I are constantly making deals. If we are astute, we avoid being zonked. It is possible that, like me, we have all made mistakes in our deals, but we keep trying to do better.

The most important deal in life is when we come to a reconciliation with our heavenly Father. Too often, skeptics think that salvation and Christianity are a Zonk. But the truth is that when God offers us His love and power through Jesus, as well as the forgiveness of our sin and life that goes on forever, He is offering us a deal that is impossible to surpass. But in His wisdom, He allows us to accept or reject His offer to us. Like all deals, God's offer must be accepted for the deal to be completed.

Our heavenly Father must be thrilled when we make a deal with Him by accepting His offer and coming to Him through His Son, Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life.

Prayer: Dear Father, we are grateful that You have provided a way for us to be reconciled with You. Help us to be wise enough to accept Your offer of forgiveness through Him. Help each one to accept the true deal. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
