Isaiah 40:31 – Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (NIV)

Watching our babies take their first precarious steps is exhilarating, but emotions run deep when tiptoeing around the delicate topic of aging! If we trusted in Scripture, we would be entering this new era on wings like eagles. Instead, many over 50 wonder if their identity flew the coop somehow. They wonder, "Who am I?" and "Where do I go next?" Retirement and changes in health often cause seniors to mourn the status that they were once invested in.

Epicurus, the philosopher, concluded, "No age is too early or too late for the health of the soul." He believed the more that we realize our value is not based on a job title or beauty, the happier we will be.

C.S. Lewis invited us to search the soul in depth, writing, "As long as you are proud, you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you."

The wealth of our past experiences and education leaves us with a bounty of knowledge and resources to share. Remember, "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." – Les Brown.

Now is the season to be thankful. For God is with us and promises His continued love and concern for the elderly. He reminds us, "I will be your God throughout your lifetime — until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you." (Isaiah 46:4 NLT)

And in today's verse, He promises those who put their hope in the Lord that they "will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint."

Prayer: Dear Lord, may we cling to this verse from Isaiah and be thankful for Your loving care. Amen.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 – Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with all of you. (NIV)
