In the blink of an eye, what once held us spell-bound in movie theatres is now our reality. The world reels and drops to its knees as the invisible COVID-19 pandemic sends blow after blow. Adults have gathered their children, like mother hens, and scrambled for the safety of their homes. Nevertheless, we are not ready to surrender!

Miraculously, amid this pandemic, hero after hero has marched to the forefront and readied themselves for battle! Strangers have responded to the call of the apostle Paul, saying, "We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak." (Romans 15:1 ESV) They have come from all walks of life, with one common thread: humility.

Households that trust in the Lord take great comfort in knowing that God's Word never fails:

Matthew 6:31-33 – Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (ESV)

If there ever was a time to have our priorities in order, it is now. Indeed, though our top priority is to stay safe and healthy, there is a priority far more significant: "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness." So often, it seems like those who refuse to follow God's laws are the first to blame Him for their suffering. But we have a merciful God, and perhaps this is a time of second chances, a time to rid ourselves of the false gods that many have put before the only true God. The question is, are we right with God? Have our children asked Christ, the Lord our righteousness, to be their personal Saviour?

Stay really safe! Be right with Jesus.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, renew our faith and trust in You during this challenging time. Give us the heart to obey Your commandments so that we may grow in wisdom. Lord, forgive us for those times when we have foolishly placed our faith in false idols. Our hope now is in You, Lord. We will sing Your praises forever! Amen.
