Psalm 20:7 – Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. (KJV)

Last winter, I stumbled on a heart-rending story as I surfed the Internet. In a clinic in China, an embattled lady in her frustration littered the floor of the patients' room with her bag full of hard-earned money.

She had been diagnosed with a cancer and desperately needed a cure, so she went with a bag full of money to the clinic to pay for an operation. But the sad news that made her go haywire was that her cancer was in a critical stage, and the doctors said that there was nothing that they could do for her any further.

So, with tears and great frustration, she cried aloud in the hospital, "Of what use is the money?" as she splashed the bank notes across the floor.

And I said to myself, "If only you would find Jesus now — or use His name, if you have found Him already."

Many persons believe so much in money that they come to think that they can't exist without it. Even as Christians, we can get to a point in our lives where we tell God to hold on when we face some challenges that money can solve, and because we have money, we count on that to fix the problem.

From today's verse, we see that David never trusted in money but in the name of the Lord. In the past, chariots and horses were signs of great riches and wealth, and for sure, King David had plenty, but he chose to trust in God.

Proverbs 18:10 – The name of the Lord is a strong tower: and the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. (KJV)

Friend, the truth is that money cannot solve what Christ can solve in our lives. Money cannot give us protection from demonic attacks; money cannot buy us eternal life and spiritual gifts; money cannot buy miracles and vision and healing; money cannot give us salvation; and money can't save a shattering marriage — ask the divorced rich. But Jesus can. And at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow.

We must learn to lean on God in every situation and not on our salaries, bank accounts, and jobs. Our gaze must be unto the Lord, for our help comes from nowhere else but from the Lord.

In so doing, our faith in the Lord remains firm, and we are able to please Him.

Psalm 127:1 – Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. (KJV)

Our safety is only in the Lord. Pray with me:

Prayer: O God, help me to put my trust in You and not in money. Help me to know that You are the reason that I live, and that in You, I live, and move, and have my being. Jesus, from today, I trust in You implicitly. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
