Proverbs 22:6 – Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. (NLT)

What parents would not choose to wrap their children in an invincible security blanket every morning before sending them off to face the harsh world outside? It often begins at the kitchen table, as we educate them about how big God's love is for them. It's about sharing Bible stories like David and Goliath so that our children can recognize what it means to place their trust in our all-powerful God. It is around this modest table, where encouragement is continually given, where joy and laughter are contagious, where tears are kissed dry, and where fears are defeated, one by one. The only voices unwelcome in this haven are the voices of judgment and criticism. There, they have been swept away and are silenced forever. Above all else, on the kitchen table, there is always a full serving of love, for this household has only one Master, and His name is "Love".

1 John 4:16 – And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. (NIV)

As the COVID-19 virus has limited families to their homes, it has given us a time to re-evaluate our priorities, a time to reflect. Families that have never experienced the joy of sharing around their kitchen tables, often due to hectic work schedules, can now take their first step — or should I say "seat"!

We can begin searching through Scripture verses or start studying the Bible online. Most churches are offering virtual sermons — the perfect way to get our feet wet. Everything is at our fingertips — all around the kitchen table!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You that all good gifts come from You. We thank You that we can trust You for the future of our families. Please guide our children in every step that they take. We pray that they would know Your provision and protection. Make steady their steps, we pray. Amen.
