John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (ESV)

Whenever I feast on the wonder of a starlit sky, as daytime's sunset pulls down her blind and whispers goodnight, I cannot help but believe in God's handiwork. And though my eyesight has faded over time, and brilliant colours have lost their glow and hue, as I peek into my past, though You are hidden, I can see You fashioning our days and nights. I thank You, Father, for Your constant care and guarding over me. I thank You for listening to my every prayer, even those I couldn't say out loud, because my heart was too broken to speak. Like the time we lost our unborn babe and thought we'd never have a child again. You didn't end the sad story there; Your love shone down and turned our house into a home. For "I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!" (Psalm 66:17-20 NIV)

Keeping a prayer journal is an excellent way to record God's love at work in our lives — to see the bigger picture; to realize what we've been through and understand what it means to be one of God's children; to learn through our mistakes and choose a better way of living; to appreciate what we have; to be more compassionate for those in need; to see how loved we are. Then, when catastrophe strikes, we can be confident that our heavenly Father will shine His healing light on even our darkest hours and give them a purpose, to be used for good! They have not been in vain.

Psalm 56:8 – You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. (NLT)

My friend, if your heart is breaking today, or you are feeling alone or afraid, remember, that you are part of the greatest love story. It begins and ends with God, and it has a glorious ending!

Prayer: Dear Lord, we believe in Your love. We believe in Your promise of salvation. We believe that You hear all our prayers. Thank You for turning our darkest hours into our greatest joys. We do believe in happy endings, even though our stories are not yet over. We believe, Father, in Your eternal life, because Yours is the greatest love story ever. Amen.
