Someone who wants to walk on a path in the dark certainly needs a flashlight in order to avoid tripping or stumbling, for in being so equipped, an accident can be prevented. God's Word to the believer fulfills the same function: it is a light in the darkness.

Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (NKJV)

Believers certainly need it to be able to navigate through the darkness of the sin, destruction, sickness, and evil in our world today. God's Word is so important to the believer that Christ called it "spirit and life".

John 6:63 – It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. (NKJV)

In essence, the believer has no spiritual life without the Word of God. When someone's spirit is gone out of their body or is non-functional, that person is considered spiritually dead.

Romans 8:9 – But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. (NKJV)

The Word of God is the lifeline of the believer. It's an anchor to our spirit; our existence is solely dependent on it.

Light and solution will begin to illuminate the dark situations and challenges surrounding the children of God if they spend time with the Word of God every day. Mountains will move, and stories of victory over the enemy are sure results for the believer who spends time with the Word. Sicknesses and afflictions will begin to disappear from the body of the sick believer who leans on the Word. Ideas in business will ceaselessly flow into the mind of the believer in business who relies on the Word. A student who spends time with the Word will without dispute become more astute than his peers, because the Scripture says, "The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple." (Psalm 119:130 NKJV)

So, friend, what we need most in times of difficulty is not really the pastor's prayer or a counsellor or a motivational book, but the Word.

If you can look for the Word of God concerning any situation in your life wherein you need a breakthrough and begin to meditate on it and declare it over that situation, you will testify in Jesus' name.

Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (NKJV)

Hallelujah! Pray with me:

Prayer: O Lord, let Your Word have its way in my life today. Help me to lean on Your Word in every situation and every challenge that I find myself in. With Your Word, direct me and lead me in the right path of life. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
