Psalm 62:5-6 – Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. (NIV)

The other day, I was doing a word puzzle and got stuck. I was looking for words that began with the letter "f". I turned my tablet sideways, as this gives me a different perspective, but still I had no success. I was just about to click on the clues button — something I absolutely hate to do — when there it was right in front of me: faith. Faith was the next "f" word in the puzzle, and once I had found it, I was able to proceed to the next steps and finish.

As I laughed to myself about the fact that the hard-to-find word was faith, I was reminded of how often the puzzle of our life can be put on hold for the same reason. We simply can't find — or sometimes forget about — our faith. We struggle to find a solution to a problem. We spend hours, days, weeks, or even years worrying and fretting over issues. We struggle with making the right decision and just can't make the choice. But when we finally remember our faith, or decide to choose faith — to give it all to God and trust in His timing and His ability to guide and direct us concerning the situation — we find ourselves relieved and able to move forward again in confidence and peace.

Right now, as I sit and write these words, I am awaiting the beginning of a new situation, a new step in life. I don't know for sure just how it is going to turn out or just how I will manage amidst it, but I am choosing to remember and to rely upon my faith in God to guide and direct and empower me, which in turn is allowing me to go about my daily tasks with peace of mind, confidence, and the joy of the Lord.

How about you? Is faith the missing word in your situation today?

Prayer: Father God, thank You so much that You and You alone are worthy of our faith. May we always remember this and choose to place our faith in Your love and goodness to us, knowing that as we do so, our lives will be filled with the necessary peace and confidence that will bring joy to our everyday living. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
