I recently asked my two great-grandsons, "Why did God give us tears?" The three-year-old answered, "Because we're crying", and the six-year-old said, "Hmmm, I got it! Because when we're sad we can't just make a noise. We have to make a noise and make tears at the same time." I love the pure, uncomplicated, childlike answers to questions that they seem come up with!

Tears are very important to us. They keep our eyes moist and flush out irritants. I don't know about you, but a good cry helps to calm me and bring about a peaceful feeling.

In John 11:35, we read that Jesus shed tears over Lazarus's tomb.

Revelation 21:4 – He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. (NLT)

Psalm 56:8 – You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. (NLT)

I'm sure that you and I have shed tears too innumerable for us to count, but praise God! He has counted and collected every one, and each one means something special to God.

I wrote the following poem while interceding for the lost and wayward loved ones in my life. I pray that it will minister to you and encourage you to keep praying on the behalf of others, no matter how hopeless things may seem.

The Tear's Majestic Beauty

'Tis the tiniest thing that we've ever beheld
The delicate drop of a tear
But it holds deep within the power of God
And to Him it is something so dear

The droplet that falls appears crystal clear
And only the Master can see
The vast depth it contains of faith, hope, and trust
Accomplishing its destiny

It can fall to the ground, on a sleeve, or a face
They are numbered and then safely kept
God then writes in a book the day they were shed
And the person for whom we have wept

The deep crystal river in heaven so pure
Is majestic I'll have to agree
But your tears hold a beauty to Me all their own
God's voice gently whispers to me

Attached to each one is the incense of prayer
And when it's time for My will to be done
I will soften their heart with the tears you have shed
For I've collected and stored every one

Prayer: Lord, we thank You that our tears mean so much to You that You collect them and store them. One day in eternity, we will understand their full purpose. We also thank You for renewed strength to continue to pray and not give up on praying for those in need. Thank You, in Jesus' name. Amen.
