Do you believe in miracles?

Over the past few days, the entire world has been watching the discovery and rescue of a team of twelve Thai boys and their coach, who were trapped in a cave in Thailand.

It was a miracle that they were even found after being in the cave for ten days, and yet another miracle that they were all rescued!

They couldn't save themselves. Thousands of people were involved in the rescue, and one even gave his life.

Miracles do happen, as many of our readers can surely testify.

Many times in the Bible, God came to rescue people:

Noah and his family from the flood

Lot's family out of Sodom by the angels

Joseph thrown into the well by his brothers

Baby Moses in the basket on the Nile

Daniel in the lion's den

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace

Jonah swallowed by the great fish

Mary and Joseph who escaped Herod's plans to kill Jesus

Peter released from prison

… just to name a few.

Although we may not realize our plight, we all need to be rescued from the spiritual effects of our sin: a broken relationship with God. We can't save ourselves, but God will rescue us. He will bring us out of darkness and into His glorious light. We all struggle with sin. The Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We need to be rescued. We need a miracle.

Jesus has rescued us from our sinful nature by offering Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. God wants each and every one of us to experience that rescue.

Galatians 1:4 – He died for our sins just as God our Father planned, and rescued us from this evil world in which we live. (TLB)

Have you been rescued? Praise and thank God!

Are you waiting to be rescued? God is only a prayer away. Confess your sins to Him and turn away from them. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your Lord and Saviour.

Acts 16:31a – They replied, "Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved." (TLB)

Romans 8:1 – So there is now no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. (TLB)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You that You rescue us when we cry out to You. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to rescue us from our sinfulness and bring us into Your kingdom. Help us to be obedient to Your will and to trust You always. To You be the glory forever and ever! In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
