In 1972, Kris Kristofferson wrote the song, "Why Me?", which included these lyrics:

Why me Lord?
What have I ever done
To deserve even one
Of the pleasures I've known?
Tell me Lord
What did I ever do
That was worth loving You
Or the kindness You've shown?

Do you ever wonder why God chose you to hear His voice and to follow Him? I do.

Why me, Lord? What did I ever do? You know everything about me, and it's not all pretty.

Wikipedia recounts the story of how Kristofferson came to write the song:

Kristofferson said he went with friends to the church service where he was moved by Larry Gatlin's song "Help Me (Lord)". He said that he had never thought of needing help, but he was at a low point in his life. When the pastor asked the congregation, "Is anybody feeling lost?" "Up goes my hand," Kristofferson says. The Pastor then asked, "Are you ready to accept Christ? Kneel down there." "I'm kneeling there," Kristofferson continues, "and I carry a big load of guilt around … and I was just out of control, crying. It was a release. It really shook me up."

Each one of us is invited to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, but we must be willing, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to make that decision.

No matter who we are.

No matter what we've done.

No matter where we've come from, we can choose to accept and to follow Jesus.

We all need God.

I have these words written in the front on my Bible:

The best day is the day you see yourself for who you are — desperate without Christ. Then see yourself as He sees you — complete in Him.

The day that we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour is the best day of our lives — the day we become complete in Him. Our natural response should be to say, "Thank You, Lord!"

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are so grateful that we can come to You when we realize how much we need You and that You are ready and waiting. We can never repay You for all that You have done for us. Help us to be willing to follow You when we hear Your voice and to be Your witnesses to the world around us in all that we say and do and think. We pray this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
