As I write this title, I feel like putting a question mark to cap it off: Fear Of The Future? Really? Does a Christian really need to fear the future? Fear is in the air these days, with conspiracy theorists questioning the earth's future if we are hit by a massive force from the sky. I looked up this topic online and read about the Nibiru cataclysm: "Overwhelming evidence proves that a planet will collide with earth in September or October this year". They say that the global elite are wise to this and are already building bunkers to survive the collision, while the public is being kept in the dark to avoid panic. However, predictions occur every year that the world will end, but it never does.

What does a Christian believe that God will bring about? Is it the end of all things? Many Scripture verses remind us to trust the Lord, for the future is in His hands. When reading a psalm of Moses, I feel its abiding reassurance:

Psalm 90:14 – Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. (NIV)

I can sense the Lord's presence with me as I go about my day. The Christian leads a life of reassurance and trust, not of fear.

We all need to start each day with trust in the Lord and commit our way into His hands. If the world should end, the Lord will look after our situation. After reading each morning's devotional, giving thanks for those who write for this devotional program, I trust my safekeeping to Him. "Thank You, Lord, for satisfying me each morning with Your unfailing love, that I may sing for joy and be glad all my days." See how that verse touches you? It goes deep within. We are looked after, and we need not fear anything!

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee:
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not,
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
       – Thomas O. Chisholm

Prayer: O Lord, as we sing with so many others today, Your love fills our needs and our faithful lives follow Your plan with thanksgiving. There are many people restless these days, but we don't need to fear the future — You are with us. We pray that Your peace will fill us all, thanks to Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
