Once again, I was not connected to the Internet, and I was in need of assistance. I contacted the service by telephone, and after the usual drill, the technician recommended that I let him walk me through fixing the problem.

Unfortunately, I cannot see or hear very well, so the very patient voice had to put up with me for over an hour. I burst into happy laughter when I was connected again. I am sure that I was disconnected accidentally, but the whole time was an example of perseverance on the part of the instructor and willingness on my part to do what I could using a magnifying glass. It felt good to get the problem solved, and during the day, I stopped many times to rejoice and be glad of the outcome. I knew that I had been a difficult case to handle.

I could not help but think about how important it is to be connected to God on a daily, even moment-by-moment basis. If we are to serve God effectively and promote His kingdom work, we have to know what His will is. And to know His will, we have to be in tune with His Holy Spirit. It is so easy to mistake the Spirit's nudgings for our own selfish desires, so we need to test them against God's Word. When we get to know the way that God thinks, we are better able to be connected with Him on a continuous basis.

Disconnection causes harm both in this life and also in the life to come, because life continues hereafter, either with God or without Him. Satan, the evil one, wants for all to fall and each one to be disconnected from God in this life, so that he can count all those whom he has deceived. There is no joy or gladness in that!

2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone come to repentance. (NIV)

Let us become known as people connected to God in Jesus Christ!

Prayer: Lord God, thank You for fulfilling Your promises and being patient with us when we are disconnected from You. Help us to connect with You now so that You can guide us through this life and beyond. Help us to stay connected to You, that no shadow can take that power from us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen!
