2 Samuel 22:47 – The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my salvation! (NKJV)

This morning, I was driving through badly needed rain to have my vehicle serviced. As I looked to my left, I saw a break in the rain. The sun was shining brightly on a point of land. The contrast of the red shore, the blue water, the yellow sunlight, and the verdant vegetation made my soul cry out, "My God lives!" I could see the handiwork of His creation majestically displayed right over there!

That's the easy part: seeing God externally. But how about internally? Oh, that's more difficult! How do I see God working through me for others? How much of my life do I allow God to enter? How and where do I see God in my life? Is He infused into my very being — into all my daily thoughts and activities — or is He relegated to the corner of a dusty shelf of my life?

Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (NKJV)

My faith journey is far from perfect — yes, sometimes, unfortunately, I put God on a dusty shelf corner. Then, I find myself wondering, "Why can't I feel the Lord's presence today? Why am I restless?"

If we have someone whom we call a friend, yet they do not find time to call or visit us, are they really our friend? Similarly, in our relationship with our Father, if we don't take regular time to be with Him, is He a priority? What does this say about our desire to deepen our relationship with Him as His loving children?

I know that my days unroll better when I make time for my devotions first thing in the morning. This being the case, why do I allow interruptions to steal this time away from my conversations with God?

I know for a fact that I certainly need this time with Him. I need His anchoring in my life. How about you? Join me in this prayer.

Prayer: Dear Father, in the daily merry-go-round of life, help me to step off the ride each day, to take time to praise You, to meditate on Your holy Word, and to seek instruction on Your plans for me. You built the entire world in six days, and You are never too busy to hear my humble prayers. Help me to freely access the gifts that You have for me — the gifts of Your time and Your holy guidance. Amen.
