John 14:6-7 – Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." (NIV)

As editor, publisher, and deliverer of our little town's newspaper, I am always amazed at the number of people who look forward with expectation to its publication every other Wednesday. The paper usually consists of a mere 4-16 pages, and mainly contains such items as local upcoming event dates and business advertisements. When I developed its existence six years ago, I never dreamed how in-demand and popular it would become in both hard and e-mail copies.

Recently, as I was adding yet another new contact to the e-mail subscription list, I contemplated the success of the paper and came to the conclusion that people love it because it offers them connection — connection with one another and with the town as a whole.

People who live in Atlin only six months or less each year enjoy being able to follow what's happening year-long.

Others living elsewhere who have family living here feel that in some small way, they, too, are a part of their loved ones' lives, as they see what is going on.

The locals feel connected to one another as they mark their calendars in anticipation of upcoming events and social enjoyment.

Connection is important for human beings, for our heavenly Father has created us to be social creatures — social with one another but also with Him, which is why He published and delivered His own form of what the world has come to know as the Good News.

Adam and Eve were created for fellowship: connection both with one another and with God, their heavenly Father. But when they sinned in the Garden of Eden, that connection with God became broken, not only for themselves, but also for all mankind who would follow, a connection which could be re-established only through the Good News of Jesus Christ, Who came that mankind might not perish but receive eternal life through the forgiveness of sin and reconnection with the Father.

Today, the Good News is still available, but it is not just available every second Wednesday like the news that I publish in my community. It's available each and every day — 24/7 — for each and every one who wishes to subscribe to a new life in Christ Jesus, Who makes an eternal connection with God our heavenly Father a reality for eternity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You so much for the Good News of Jesus Christ, Who is our connection with You now and forevermore. Throughout our world this day, may the hearts of many choose to subscribe to this Good News that has the power to turn our world upside down with connections of love and forgiveness for one another. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
