Recently, a friend invited me to a ladies' Christmas luncheon at her church. In front of everyone's seat was a beautiful poem written on decorative holiday paper. The title of the poem was "If You Look for Me At Christmas." The pastor's wife explained that the poem had been printed on a greeting card that she had received years earlier from a dear friend. Because the words are particularly meaningful for this time of year, I felt moved to share them with you.

If you look for me at Christmas,
You won't need a special star.
I'm no longer just in Bethelehem,
I'm right there where you are.

You may not be aware of me
Amid the celebrations.
You'll have to look beyond the stores
And all the decorations.

But if you take a moment
From your list of things to do
And listen to your heart, you'll find
I'm waiting there for you.

You're the one I want to be with,
You're the reason that I came,
And you'll find me in the stillness
As I'm whispering your name.

Love, Jesus

It is my hope that this poem has blessed your heart as it has mine. May we always remember that Jesus is the reason for every season; what is more — we are the reason why He came.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to take time during this busy holiday season to rest in Your holy presence. May we hear Your still, small voice in the midst of our worship and celebration. In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.
