The human body is a complex creation which comprises a head (which includes the brain, ears, eyes, mouth, and nose), neck, thorax (which includes the lungs and heart), abdomen (which includes the digestive organs), arms and hands, legs and feet. Every part of the body is composed of various types of cells, the fundamental units of life.

Our cells are a part of a complex DNA body system, yet every part works together for us to exist. If one part of our body hurts, the rest of the body hurts as well. If we fall and break an arm or leg, our brain sends pain messages to the injured site. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are much the same.

1 Corinthians 12:12,26 – The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. (NLT)

If one member of our church body hurts, the rest of the body of Christ hurts as well. We all need each other. If brothers or sisters in Christ don't act or think the way we do, that doesn't mean that they are not important or that we do not need them.

1 Corinthians 12:15 – If the foot says, "I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand," that does not make it any less a part of the body. (NLT)

We are very different from each other but needed just the same.

1 Corinthians 12:17,20,27 – If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. All of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it. (NLT)

We all have different talents and skills, and because we can accomplish more together than we can separately, we need to celebrate our differences and pull together in teamwork in the body of Christ.

Prayer: Lord God, may we learn to accept each other the way that You have created us. Teach us to love each other and not judge others who do not act or think the same way we do. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
