Matthew 21:21-22 – Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. (KJV)

Faith is a journey of trust in God. It starts with a walk along a path, and if we follow through, progresses to an ascent on a mountain. It is that important.

The goal is to understand exactly what God is asking of us. It is a worthy journey, but it often changes as we struggle through faith issues. These can range from trying to make routine decisions in our everyday lives, to finding ourselves in the midst of a storm, threatened by hurricane-force winds. If God doesn't appear to answer us, our faith meter often drops perceptibly. It seems that our measure of faith is only equal to His positive answers to our prayers.

God is asking us to believe Him, without question, without doubt, when He says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5 NKJV), and perhaps with a codicil that says, "but always remember, My will be done."

So, if life, lived prayerfully, proves to be painful and disruptive, God will remain steadfastly alongside, and will reward our faith in Him by one day showing us why it all came to pass.

Let us find our quiet place, listen carefully, and let a last prayer every night emphasize that we believe and trust in Him. Then, let us ask Him to increase our resolve.

When we summit the mountain, we will look back in amazement at His promises kept to His faithful child.

Prayer: Dear beloved Father, we know that You want only the best for us, Your children. Please open our eyes and ears during our quiet times with You, that we might understand the all-inclusive importance of faith. Amen.
