Even though my e-reader and I were barely on speaking terms, I was determined to take advantage of an offer for a free Bible. Nothing worked. Then, I got my friend involved. She couldn't help me, but she decided to get it for herself! That Bible was free only for a few days and we were determined to have it! What on earth were we thinking?

We called in experts; we travelled to other experts; no matter, still no Bible. Eventually, after many hours of Bible chasing, we finally caught it. It only took us two whole days and every spare minute of our time, but eventually, we succeeded. The free Bible was ours!

I have several Bible versions right at my fingertips in my own house, in my own bookcase. I could have pursued them. I asked myself when I had last chased the Word of God with such perseverance. And when would I ever chase it again with such wild abandon?

Well, this is why I should have been chasing it:

2 Timothy 3:16 – Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action). (AMP)

"Obedience": It's hard to obey what we don't know. That's why we have to read the book. That's why God wrote it. If you have never read the Bible, start in the Book of John and keep going. You will love it. You might even want to chase it yourself.

We are privileged in North America to have access to any Bible we want. Surely we should take advantage of that. Many do not have access to their own Bible, or any Bible at all.

Prayer: Father, give us the desire, the yearning to read Your Word and then obey it, for Christ's sake and for ours! Amen.
