Isaiah 9:1a,2 – Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (NIV 2011)

With race riots, government oppression, radicalized terrorists, horrific new diseases, and financial meltdowns, today's world is in as much darkness as it was 2000 years ago, and as it was before that, when people were hoping for a Saviour. The world is still opposed to God, the Maker of heaven and earth and all that is in it. God, the very giver of life and all its benefits, is totally ignored and disobeyed by human beings at large.

God overlooked all that with the greatest love ever — the greatest love we could ever receive in our upside-down condition. Jesus Christ is the gift of light in a world of darkness.

Where the truth enters, there is new birth! And "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23b NIV)

Jesus is the Prince of Peace, but it may not be until His second coming that He will choose to usher in a new age of peace and righteousness.

In the meantime, let's do what we can to work for peace where we are. Let's listen carefully to the angels singing: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" (Luke 2:14 NKJV)

That is the way to get right-side-up with God! It is also the way to get Christmas right! Let's have an honest desire to receive the greatest love ever! His name is God, Immanuel, Jesus, Saviour, and Redeemer of the whole world!

Prayer: Come, Lord Jesus, enter our homes — You know where we are. May our dwelling places become Yours with Your true, authentic, unshakable, saving love and peace! Fill our hearts with Your greatest gift to mankind — the greatest love ever — to bless us in Jesus name! Amen!
