Isaiah 55:12 – You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. (NIV)

This morning, The Trail is alive with sights and sounds to delight the senses.

Goldenrod and purple asters line either side, intermingling with patches of Queen Anne's lace, swaying in the gentle breeze. Monarch butterflies circle and glide looking for just the right milkweed leaf on which to lay their eggs. Grapevines intertwine with the brilliant red sumac. And behind them, a thick forest of reds, yellows, and oranges stretch out their arms, painting a panorama of gorgeous colour against the patches of brilliant, blue sky peeking through their branches.

On the opposite side of The Trail, a field of goldenrod reaches out to meet a large expanse of ripe, green soybean plants stretching away into the distance.

The raucous calls of blue jays mingle with the clamouring honking of a large flock of geese rising from their overnight resting place. They wheel overhead, then turn southward towards their winter home. What a tremendous sight! I stand amazed at the combination of beauty surrounding me. Majestic sights and sounds in such variety are displayed so vividly here on The Trail in such a brief moment in time, that it almost takes my breath away. And the fact that the Creator of all of this beauty is our God, forever and ever, is so far beyond my comprehension that all I can do is stand with upraised arms. I am, once again, lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Take time from your busy schedule to stop, look, and listen, my friends. Breathe in the crisp fragrance of fall and the scent of burning leaves, and along with me, be amazed, once again, at the wonder of our God Who loves us so much that He takes time to send these rich blessings of sight, sound, and smell over and over again.

Prayer: Father, we stand in awe of Your love. With all of the confusion and problems in this world, You still take moments to paint our world with breathtaking colour every autumn. With Mary S. Edgar, we pray, "God, who touches earth with beauty, make my heart anew; with Your Spirit recreate me, pure, and strong, and true." We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
