Have you ever taken the time to watch the clouds roll by as you are lying on your back on the soft green grass or sitting in a comfortable chair? I have.

The free encyclopedia, Wikipedia, says that a cloud is a visible mass of liquid droplets or frozen crystals made of water or various chemicals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of a planetary body.

Clouds come in many shapes and sizes. Stratus are low clouds that often cover the entire sky, resembling fog; altostratus are middle clouds; cirrus are high clouds, usually thin and wispy; and cumulus clouds are puffy and look like giant pieces of cotton floating in the sky.

I love looking at clouds. Sometimes, I see a dragon floating across the sky, and at other times, I see a fluffy bunny rabbit or a puppy chasing a ball.

Sometimes, clouds reveal an oncoming thunderstorm, snow, or hail, and every now and then, an oncoming tornado. When such warning signs are given, they are to be respected and acted upon.

This idea of clouds and signs made me think of signs prophesied in the Bible that we should watch for and that warn us that the second coming of Christ is imminent.

Matthew 24:30 – And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. (NASB)

Revelation 1:7 – Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. (NASB)

Prayer: Lord God, open our eyes and ears to see and understand Your wonderful and mysterious plan. Fill us with Your love, and help us to love as You love. Give us the courage and wisdom to speak and proclaim Your ongoing work of bringing all things together under one, namely Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord. Amen.
