Luke 11:33-36 – No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you. (NIV 2011)

Eye surgery. It seems like every time we turn around, someone is having it: eye surgery for their cataracts.
I surgery. It seems like every time we turn around, someone ought to get it: I surgery for their selfish attitude.

With eye surgery comes better vision.
With I surgery comes better obedience.

Eye surgery cuts out the film that is hindering the vision of things in one's life.
I surgery cuts out the rebellious "I" attitude that is hindering God's vision for our lives.

Romans 6:6 – For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. (NIV 2011)

Ephesians 4:22 – You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. (NIV)

Just as a sailor would respond to the captain with an "Aye, aye, sir!" when given a command, we, too, must become more obedient with our "Aye, aye, Lord!" when He instructs us to do something.

Let our love for Jesus turn our "I"s into ayes!

Prayer: Lord, our creator God, please hear our plea for healthy "ayes" as we strive to serve You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
