It was a beautiful sunny day. The sun's rays were piercing through the front window of my living room. Instead of the usual routine of grabbing my lunch and going into my computer room, I decided to sit in my favourite recliner, put my feet up, and slowly eat my lunch. The rays from the sun warmed my face, and I thoroughly enjoyed my rest.

As I glanced around my living room, I looked at my sofa and the pillows that were strewn here and there; usually they are placed in an orderly manner. As I looked at this certain pillow, I had to blink twice. A face appeared — it was the face of Jesus.

Why at that precise moment would I look over towards the sofa? The pillow would have had to have been arranged just so in order that the creases in the material would somehow create the face of Jesus. Why did I choose to sit down in my recliner on that very day instead of sitting in front of my computer? You could chalk it up to all sorts of reasons, but I like to take it as a little message of love from God.

I believe that we all have those special moments that are gifts from our heavenly Father if we take the time to sit and relax and be still. Have you ever sat on a bench down by the water and watched the sun set or really looked at a snowflake? Have you ever looked into the heavens on a clear night and beheld the majesty of the expanse of stars? I believe that God the Creator grants us these minuscule events just to let us know that we are not alone.

Psalm 8:4 – What are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? (NRSV)

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (NRSV)

Prayer: Loving God, You care about each and every one of us. You grant us special days and moments to let us know that You are with us in all things. You reveal Yourself in many different ways and in many different situations. Thank You for those special moments with You. Amen.
