The day was bright, clear, and sunny. A soft breeze rustled the leaves of the large oak tree that stands strong and tall in my front yard. It was peaceful. Yet, approximately five hundred miles away, there was chaos.

Twelve years have passed since hijacked planes, controlled by terrorists, crashed into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center and the west wing of the Pentagon, killing thousands of people. Those images of terror will never be forgotten and have changed our world forever. Yet at the same time, it had also brought many countries together in a common bond to offer their support to our American neighbours as they grieved this horrific tragedy.

Today, a memorial stands as a tribute of remembrance to honour the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks. The memorial's twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest man-made waterfalls in North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood.

The Congress of the United States has been debating whether to sanction President Obama's urging of military action against Syria over its alleged use of chemical weapons against its own citizens. Once again, it is a time of uncertainty. Let us place our hope in the living God Who sees everyone's future and Who is in charge. Let us pray for wisdom and patience as world leaders stand up for justice. Let us pray for world peace.

Isaiah 26:3-4 – You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. (NLT)

Prayer: Almighty God, cleanse our hearts from hatred and jealousy. Remove anything that would entice us to overpower and control others. Fill our human hearts with love and forgiveness. Transform our hearts of envy, hatred, jealousy, and non-forgiveness into hearts of love. Help us to trust in You and know that You are in control. Amen.
