When my youngest daughter was approximately two and a half years old, she would climb to the top of the stairs and yell, "Catch me, daddy!" and jump, having the faith and the assurance that indeed her daddy would catch her. Now that my youngest daughter has a daughter of her own, it seemed that history has repeated itself.

Katen was two and a half years old when she played the same "Catch me, daddy!" game. Katen would climb on top of the couch or stairs and jump, yelling, "Catch me, daddy!" and jump, right into her daddy's waiting arms, and her daddy would always catch her.

Her brother, Carter, now age three, plays this same game. He also would climb on top of the couch, chair, or stairs and yell, "Catch me, daddy!" and jump. And as always, his daddy would be waiting with open arms to catch him.

This incident made me think of the child-like faith and trust that children have that their daddy would catch them.

Matthew 19:13-14 – Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (NASB)

And I ponder about my faith. Do I trust my heavenly Father to lead me and guide me in the way that I should go? Do I believe that my heavenly Father will catch me if I stumble or fall?

2 Peter 1:10 – Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble. (NASB)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to become like little children and trust that You will lead us and guide us and catch us when we stumble. Transform our hearts to trust in You always, in whatever situation we may find ourselves. Amen.
