The news about a five-year-old girl being raped in India has caused worldwide concern and disgust. The recent bombings at the Boston Marathon and the shootings that are so prevalent these days have also caused concern and anxiety.

Luke 8:17 – For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. (NASB)

These devastating crimes have been brought out into the open by individuals who had the strength and wisdom to make these things public. Some brave soul in India brought to light the horrific act of rape. People at the Boston Marathon turned in the pictures and video on their cell phones and cameras in order to capture the terrorists and bring the two individuals to justice. Many police and first responders also helped in bringing this tragic event to an end.

It is by people speaking up and denying themselves that perpetrators are caught and brought to justice.

Ephesians 5:11-13 – Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. (NASB)

Matthew 5:14 – You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (NASB)

May we, when we see an injustice being done to another human being or see an evil deed that is being done in darkness, stand up and speak out. Is this not what we are called to do?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are shocked and anxious about what we see on television and read in the newspaper these days. Yet, there is hope when people deny themselves and bring to light what was in the darkness. Give us the strength to expose that which is evil. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
