Psalm 19:1 – The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. (NIV)

One of the things that I enjoy doing is taking pictures of simple things in nature. Often it may be a flower or something in nature that is sometimes overlooked. With today's technology, this is something we can easily do and share with others, and people can post comments about the pictures. Recently, I posted a series of pictures from our holiday. One of the pictures was a gorgeous hibiscus flower. One of the comments that someone posted caught my attention. She said, "How can people not believe in God when they see something so beautiful and perfect?"

We are surrounded by beauty, especially at this time of year when things are beginning to blossom around us. There are many who will walk past and not even notice it because they are in a rush to get somewhere. My prayer today is that wherever we are and wherever we are going, we will stop and notice the beauty around us. This is God's gift to us.

There is a hymn that we sometimes sing: Open my eyes, that I may see. It is a great reminder for all of us each day to be aware of not only the world of nature, but also the people who are around us and the opportunities that God places in our path. We meet many people during our day, and although we may be totally unaware of what their journey has been, God has placed them near us for a purpose. Let us thank God for the people He has brought into our lives and let us ask Him to open our eyes so we can truly see what we need to see.

Prayer: Loving and gracious God, thank You for Your creation that declares Your glory. Help us to truly see all that is around us. Thank You for our brothers and sisters that You bring to cross our path, and for those who have blessed our own journeys in life. Help us to recognize the times that You bring people into our lives for a reason. Help us to bring Your message of hope and love to those around us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
