I don't want to go. I don't want to even think about going. I know it's going to hurt. I don't care about how great it will be for others, I just know that I will suffer. Maybe for a long time! There will be blood. There will be groans and maybe screams. Others might be laughing, but not me. I don't want to do this! Father, aren't You listening? Maybe I can talk Him out of it, and He can find another way.

Have you ever had these thoughts? I know I have, maybe before going through surgery or to the funeral of a loved one. I remember taking my aunt with force from her bedroom because she believed that if she just stayed there, her husband would not be dead; it would not be real. Or perhaps you've had such thoughts before going to someone you've wronged and asking for forgiveness. You know you have to do it, but you don't want to.

Our hurts are minor compared to what the Lord Jesus Christ went through. We deserved them, but He was innocent. But He didn't want to go either. He prayed to his Father to "take this cup from me". However, hallelujah! He did it! He let them bruise and cut His body with scourging whips, and hammer nails into his hands and feet, and hang Him on an old tree until He died, in order that He might pay the penalty of death for our sins. He loves us that much! We can have eternal life because He did it!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Luke 22:41-42 – And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw and knelt down and prayed, saying, Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but [always] Yours be done. (AMP)

Prayer: Jesus Christ, thank You for going through with it, for me — for me, my God, for me! Amen.
