I enjoy housework, a clean house, and orderly cupboards. Then I know where things are.
Long ago someone needed my help when moving into a smaller apartment. I bagged fifteen large garbage bags full of trash before even starting the real move. I suggested some new rules for the new home.
As I packed and cleaned, I silently compared trash with the things of the devil, things which have no place in a new life with Jesus. Such was my understanding of rules for new life in a new home and life with Jesus: an entire turnabout; repentance was in order.
My friend thanked me heartily. She was glad in her clean, new surroundings.
Prayer: God in Christ, giver of rules for new life, help us to undo the old rules in our life and learn useful, new rules in building up a life pleasing to You, in the name of the fragrant offering and sacrifice, Jesus Christ. Amen.
