1 John 1:7b – The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (NKJV)

There are so many antibacterial soap scents. These are some of my favourites:

• warm vanilla sugar
• black raspberry vanilla
• winter candy apple
• cucumber melon

Antibacterial soaps claim to leave hands lightly scented and gently cleansed while effectively fighting germs. We're very conscious these days of killing germs, aren't we?

How does this apply to our Christian walk? Like germs, sin is everywhere. The Bible says that we are all sinners. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23 NKJV)

The good news, however, is that we can be cleansed from our sins. The Bible also says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 NKJV)

I've always liked this chorus:

White as snow, white as snow,
Though my sins were as scarlet,
Lord, I know, Lord I know
That I'm clean and forgiven
Through the power of Your blood,
Through the wonder of Your love.
By faith in You
I know that I can be
White as snow

There is hope for us, even though we are sinners. God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for the sins of the world — for our sins — yours and mine. We are made clean — washed white as snow — when, by faith, we repent of our sins and turn from them. We're clean and forgiven and God will transform us and enable us, by the power of His Holy Spirit, to become the people He created us to be.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are a loving and forgiving God. We acknowledge that we are sinners and we thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Keep working in us, by the power of Your Holy Spirit living in us, as we offer ourselves anew to You to be cleansed and made white as snow. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
