We live a few kilometres outside a small town. There are no street lights or tall buildings to obstruct our view of the night sky. On a beautiful clear night, millions of stars lit up the sky, and my eye caught sight of four prominent stars on the outside and three bright stars in the middle. It looked like a giant butterfly pasted onto a dark blue board. I decided to find out more about this phenomenon on the Internet.

Orion, often referred to as "the Hunter", is a prominent constellation located on the celestial equator and visible throughout the world. It is one of the most conspicuous and most recognizable constellations in the night sky. Its name refers to Orion, a hunter in Greek mythology.

Job 9:9-10 – [It is God] Who makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the chambers of the south; who does great things, unfathomable, and wondrous works without number. (NASB)

Amos 5:8 – He who made the Pleiades and Orion and changes deep darkness into morning, who also darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the Lord is His name. (NASB)

When I look up towards the heavens and see the majesty of the stars and planets, I am reminded of how small we really are. We are mere specks on a planet that He created especially for us. Even though the universe is unfathomable, God, Who created it all, is mindful of us and loves us.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your wonderful creation. It is a free gift for us to behold. Although we are but little specks of dust on this earth, You are mindful of us, and gave Your life for our salvation. You are with us in all our trials and tribulations, even to the end of the age. Amen.
