Hebrews 6:17 – God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. (NLT)

We live a five-minute drive from Kempenfelt Bay. We go there often to enjoy the walking paths or just to sit on one of the many benches, watching the water, or the people young and old walking their dogs, or the children enjoying climbing on the playground equipment.

Two days and two very different pictures: Day one — lake calm; not a ripple to be seen; ducks and geese floating along effortlessly. Day two — wind from the north; waves crashing the shoreline; ducks and geese huddled in places of shelter; the few people who are there are bracing themselves against the strong north wind. How surprising this is to the person who is witnessing it! How can it be so different from yesterday?

In a very real way, this is reflective of what I am feeling inside as I navigate the turbulent waters of life. I am reminded of how Peter stepped out of the boat to the outstretched hand of Jesus. I look to the shoreline and think that without the outstretched hand of Jesus, I would probably have taken the long way around the shore, along the road of death and destruction with its bumps and pitfalls.

1 Peter 1:21 – Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. (NLT)

So, by steps of faith, let us face tomorrow and the next, confident that, in God's plan, He knew what today would hold, and He even has tomorrow taken care of.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You that You are our refuge and shelter in the times of storm. Thank You, Lord, that You know how much we can handle, that You send no more than that our way, and that it always works for Your glory. Thank You for the hope that we have for tomorrow. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
