We have a TV program currently showing called, "Who Do You Think You Are?" It deals with celebrities researching their backgrounds as far back as grandparents and great-grandparents, and also visiting the countries of their ancestors. The results vary, according to the positive or negative things that they discover about their relatives.

Fortunately, by God's loving grace, there are never any negatives when Christians research the Bible to discover who they are.

Romans 8:15-16 – For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba Father!" The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. (NASB)

We can boldly proclaim, "I am a child of God" when:

We are born again. (John 3:3)
We believe in Jesus the Christ. (John 1:12)
We know we have God's Spirit of adoption. (Romans 8:15)
We believe we are the children of God. (Romans 8:16)
We believe we are fashioned in the likeness of God. (Colossians 3:10)
We call our God "Abba Father". (Romans 8:15)

But there is another kind of father we read about in the Bible. Jesus called the devil a father, and He said he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44)

He may attempt to deceive us about who we are. He may come with his lies in the night, or in a low time we may be experiencing, or when we may have failed at something.

He'll tell us we're not really children of God, not good enough, not righteous enough, insignificant, and unimportant to God. He'll remind us of broken promises, lies, wrong decisions, wrong directions, and many more negatives and lies about us.

We need to state continually and boldly with blatant courage:

God is my Father.
I am God's creation.
He loves me.
His love never changes.
He never changes.
I belong to the King of kings.
I am His precious pearl.
His love for me is immeasurable.
I am a child of God, and eternally, so I shall be!

Prayer: Thank You, our loving Father, that You are indeed our Father. Thank You that we who belong to You can boldly proclaim our sonship at all times. Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have made this possible by Your great sacrifice at Calvary. May we, Your children, never be silent about who we are! In Jesus' magnificent name. Amen and Amen.
