Psalm 19:14 – Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. (NKJV)

My son and I recently met up with my uncle in a store. Once we said "Hello" to each other, my son and uncle began to chat. For the next ten minutes, the talk revolved around computers and the technical lingo that goes with it. To be honest, I was totally lost in the conversation that they had. I am well versed in the using of computers, but as I found out this day, I was well out of the loop in the technical aspect. As they finished their conversation, the next word that I knew and understood was "Goodbye."

We then went to the book section of the store, and I saw a book that I had been looking for. It was a Christian book, but the store we were in was not a Christian store. As I picked the book up, the lady beside me also noticed the book, and we began to talk. She, too, was a Christian. This conversation was one that I was engaged in and followed from the beginning to the end.

This got me thinking. Do we chat with people who don't know Jesus the way my uncle and my son talked about computers?

I don't believe that the two types of conversations that I described are uncommon in our daily walk. How about us? Do we find ourselves talking with people about our walk with Jesus, and lose them after "Hello"? Even more disturbing is the possibility that we are not even engaging with others about our faith.

Philemon 1:6 – I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, help us to speak words about You; help us to make our words few but meaningful to glorify You. We recognize that we are in a world that so much needs to know You, and yet, we hold back from proclaiming who You are and what You have done for us. Give us a boldness, Lord Jesus. In Your name, we pray. Amen.
