I always enjoy the end of the year. I check over the previous year's list of goals — both the ones with a big tick of accomplishment and fulfillment, as well as those I may not have completed yet. These I place at the top of the New Year's list with fresh determination and resolve.

I particularly enjoy forming the list of new goals for the coming year under the previous year's leftovers. They don't have to be major things. Little things done in a great way satisfy me more and more each year. The list includes things needed, things I want to see, do, try, make, and give, and so on. Usually, the items and happenings are such as to require a bit of planning, some extra effort, and saving, and I can fit these within certain periods of time throughout the year. I love this preparation time for the New Year. I feel it gives me a directional map to follow.

I've learned the hard way that after all the preparation is done, I need to hold every goal and plan loosely before my Lord, and pray! My favourite prayer is "Nevertheless, Lord, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done", and "Whatever You think is a fair thing, Lord."

This prayer always keeps life interesting and often dynamic, as I watch God change or add to my best-laid plans and priorities something much more beneficial and worthwhile. Either way, the big tick and the best joy of fulfillment is the result, as I'm guided by Him.

Prayer: Lord, in all our doings, remind us to keep surrendered to You. Amen.
