Acts 26:28 – Then Agrippa said to Paul, "Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?" (NIV)

A few decades ago, my husband and I were looking for acreage to buy in what was then described as suburbia. We searched the areas around our home town for just the right spot. At the time, opportunities abounded everywhere. Many of the opportunities we turned down are now shopping malls, banks, gas stations, grocery stores, or drugstores. Land that had little value at that time has sold for a million dollars in our lifetime.

We were young and focused on an area that would make a good home site for our young family. We settled on a quiet, spacious area in the country to build our home. Had we purchased some of the tracts of land available to us, we would have been rich today. (Yes, our quiet country home is now part of the city.)

We missed the opportunity to be wealthy. There was one opportunity, though, that we did not miss in those days. We found our salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2b – I tell you, now is the time of God's favour, now is the day of salvation. (NIV)

King Agrippa was reluctant to give up his power and wealth to choose Jesus Christ or His salvation. While we did not become wealthy from our real estate choices, we chose God's gift of salvation, and it has made all the difference. We've had a good home in a good neighbourhood and a sufficient share of the world's blessings to give us a good life. There are no regrets about our choice.

Our lives are filled with opportunities. Some we never see because we are not focused in the right direction. When our lives are focused on Christ and His teachings, we can have a good, fulfilling life with blessings abundant. We will never be rich and successful as the world sees success, but our spiritual cup can be filled and running over.

Prayer: Lord, attune our eyes and our ears to Your spiritual opportunities, that You may fill our cup until it runs over with Your love and Your blessings. Amen.
