This past summer, we visited the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. We have driven through them often, and occasionally we stop and climb a mountain. This year, we rode a gondola lift to the top of one mountain. The scene was gorgeous. From there, we could walk along a wooden path quite a distance to another summit. As our family was standing there in awe of the beauty and seeing the townsite below, one little child said, "Look! There's a little world down there!" Bless her little heart; it did look like a little world down there.

My thoughts turned to God and to how He sees the world. From heaven's lofty grandeur, I'm sure our world does look like a "little world". Then I thought that even though our world is but one planet in this solar system, God still looks down and sees each one of us. Do we look like little dots to Him? In our human minds, that is what we picture. I would like to suggest that God sees us as more than little specks wandering around this planet. He knows each one of us by name! He knows each hair that falls from our heads! He knows each heartache that we have! He knows all of our thoughts! He knows our motives when sometimes we don't even know them! From heaven, our planet may look like a little world, but God knows each one of us intimately. He cares. He loves us. He accepts us. Maybe it isn't a "little world" after all.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we don't see things as You see them. We can't fathom, we can't understand, we can't explain Your love for us that sent You to the cross so that we might have eternal life. But we know it is true. We can't fathom the fact that You know each of us individually and care so much about every little detail of our lives. But Your Word says You do, so we trust. We are in awe! Help us to trust Your Word implicitly. Amen.
