Psalm 27:11 – Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path. (NIV)

I remember a song called Me and My Shadow. I was my father's shadow. Every Friday evening, we would go for groceries. Often we would have to walk because the car was not working yet again. We did the same routine — had a soda at the lunch counter, got a haircut and shave (Dad, not me! though I did enjoy the hot towels on my face), then got the groceries, and headed for home. Dad would carry the groceries in one arm and hold my hand as we walked along, chatting about nothing in particular. I loved those times!

One evening, a snow storm came from nowhere, and soon, we were blinded by the driving snow and wind. I was having difficulty getting my breath. My father told me to walk in his steps. I held on to his jacket and he took much smaller steps so I could walk in them. He protected me from the wind and snow, and I trusted him to get me safely home.

Our heavenly Father leads us safely and wants us to trust Him in all of life's struggles. We are His children and He loves us! In Psalm 32:8, God tells us, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go." (NIV)

We just have to hold on and let Him lead us on an exciting journey of faith!

Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, help us to hold on to You and trust You to lead us safely every day. We pray that You will help us to walk in the paths You have chosen for us. Thank You for Your precious promise to keep us secure and safe always and every day! Amen.
