Mark 13:7 – And when you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not get alarmed (troubled and frightened); it is necessary [that these things] take place, but the end is not yet. (AMP)

I don't know about others, but at our house, we have a steady diet of media news reports — radio in the morning, evening television news, and at least one newspaper a day.

As a sympathetic, bleeding-heart type, I can find myself feeling upset at the stream of gory waste splashing out in the bad news reports. If I let myself, I could be troubled all the time about words and pictures in the media. Part of that trouble arises from a sense of hopelessness and helplessness, being one remote individual.

Lately, more and more, that sense of hopelessness and helplessness triggers remembrance of what Jesus said and did:

Matthew 9:35-38 – And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom and curing all kinds of disease and every weakness and infirmity. When He saw the throngs, He was moved with pity and sympathy for them, because they were bewildered (harassed and distressed and dejected and helpless), like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the labourers are few. So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust labourers into His harvest. (AMP)

So I pray. I feel better after I pray.

I believe that the Holy Spirit honours prayers by taking good news, love, strength, and physical comfort to people who need it, amid the dire straits reported in any nasty news report.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, almighty God, we pray in the name of Christ Jesus Your Son: Your will be done. Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Lord of the harvest, thrust and force out labourers into Your harvest. Enable us as individual members of the Church universal to fulfill Christ's great commission to us: "Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole human race]." (Mark 16:15 AMP) Amen.
