Shoes To Go

1 Timothy 6:8 – If we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that's enough. (MSG)

Our sons, who are now 14 and 17 years old, have always had the habit of grabbing the first pair of shoes that they come upon as they head out the door to take out the garbage. For a number of years, the shoes taken always seemed to be my shoes, which, by the way, never seemed to end up back in the same place from which they came. It seemed at times that I would have two or three pairs of shoes at the door, but when I went to go out, there was never a pair to be found!

Just recently, it occurred to me that there always seem to be two or three pairs of my shoes at the door. When I questioned the boys about this, their reply was, "Oh! They don't fit anymore."

There is One Whom we will never grow out of — but grow fonder and closer to. His name is Jesus. We never need worry about the fit — as it is always just the right fit. He is always there for us, and we don't have to go looking for Him.

1 Kings 8:58 – That He may incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His ordinances, which He commanded our fathers. (NASB)

Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank You that You are always there waiting for us. Thank You that You want to walk with us the walk that is set for us. Help us to see the paths that You want us to follow. Help us to show others Your love and the path for their lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
