Colossians 1:15 – [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (NIV)

Entering a store that carries everything that the handy man or woman would need, I was left alone, looking everywhere for the item I went into the store to get. Finally, I gave up and began to look for a sales clerk who might help me. As I looked around, no-one was in sight.

The store, huge as it was, seemed to be running on remote control, meaning that although it was in operation, its staff was nowhere to be seen, invisible to the human eye. At the time, it was frustrating for me, for even the checkout was automated.

This brought to mind today's Scripture, in which we are told that Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. When He walked this earth, Jesus made God visible for the people to see. Though today we can't know Jesus through our normal human perception, we can come to know His presence by the power of the Holy Spirit.

There is nothing remote about God, nothing automated, but truly His presence is with us at all times and is available to help us find our way to eternal life through His Son, Jesus.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear Lord, enable us, in our search for You, to find Jesus Your Son, made visible so that we may come to Him confessing our sins, knowing that You, O God, have made a way for us to find forgiveness and have eternal life. In His name we pray. Amen.
