Hebrews 12:2 – Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (NKJV)

There are times in our lives when we just need to be obedient in our walk with the Lord. We will at times find ourselves in dark days during our walk with the Lord. We may entertain a whole host of excuses and ideas in our head that are not of the Lord. We may consider hanging up a shingle on the front door that says "Not at home" or "Please do not disturb". I was recently in some dark days in my life; I just wanted to roll up the path and close myself in.

I was doing the basic Bible reading and attending church and praying very basic prayers. It was like I was walking in a fog all the time. I knew I was taking information in, but it seemed to just be that — taking it in. I knew the Lord was still with me, but I felt like I was not with Him. I just kept going through the motions each day, and then the days began to turn into weeks. I began to stay home more and more, withdrawing from the world around me. I was still unable to grasp hold of the unconnected feelings that were engulfing me and to get them connected again.

Then I had a very real and life-turning encounter with Jesus, the same Jesus that I had met almost four years before, when I had accepted Him into my life, and the same Jesus with whom I have been walking and about whom I have been learning daily in my devotional and Bible reading time. He touched my heart and my life in such a very real way and began a healing that no other person, friend, or family member could ever do for me. I heard a message on the cross and re-submitted to Jesus, and He reached down and offered me a hand, a hand that still bore the marks of the nails from the cross in them. How could I refuse to grab onto His hand, for there was no mistaking it from any other hand? I grabbed on for all I was worth, and slowly, gently, and steadily, He began to help me up again.

Maybe we are facing a struggle or some turmoil in our lives at this time.

Revelation 22:21 – The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we are sorry for the times we need to turn to You, and just You, for help, and yet we resist or struggle. Thank You for the price that You paid on the cross for us. As we reflect on Your broken and bruised body, let it be our prayer that we always remember to come back to the cross and that You will meet us there no matter what our need is. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
