We travel to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, once a week via a major highway, and along the way, there is a garden centre. From early spring until fall, trees are lined up, row after row. I have watched these trees in transition, from small seedlings, to trees in bloom (some with flowers), and then in maturity and full of leaves. Today when we passed, I noticed that there were many blank spaces that trees had previously occupied, but what startled me the most was the fact that the trees still remaining were beginning to have roots coming out of the bases of the pots.

As we were driving, I began to realize that our lives can resemble those trees. Are our roots strong in the Lord? Do we easily blow over when a wind comes along?

Psalm 135:5 – I, too, give witness to the greatness of God, our Lord, high above all other gods. (MSG)

We can show the world in a wonderful way the greatness of Jesus through how we are rooted in Him. It is not too late to begin to deepen our relationship with Him and deepen our roots.

Prayer: Dear Father, as the seasons pass, help us to remain rooted in You. Help us to keep moving forward in Your love, grace, and mercy, and to show the fruit of Your Spirit in our lives to the world around us. Keep us from becoming entangled in the ways of the world. Move us out and along, so that we can be more fruitful in the kingdom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
